Metro Apartments Soi LK Metro

In keeping with our tradition of covering as much sports as possible we have upgraded our satellite system. This effectively means that customers can now have a beer or play a game of pool and keep and eye on the cricket, golf or tennis or catch up on a re-run of a football or rugby match.

Thursdays onwards we try to cover the cricket and golf; Fridays and Saturdays we stick on the Super 14s and later the Premier League. Last week we had a good crowd in watching the Ireland - England 6-Nations match. In the knowledge of having a larger than normal crowd for the Rugby we continue to provide Irish Beef Stew on the house! It goes down well with the customers! In all probability we will introduce an on-the-house food offering regularly on Saturday evenings. Watch this space!

In an attempt to widen our range of beverages available to the customer we now offer Beerlao Regular, Beerlao Dark and Leo. This is in addition to previous brands: Heineken, Tiger, Singha, Singha Light, San Miguel Light and Chang. Additionally we also stock Corona and, on occasions, Bitburg, Fürstenberg and Erdinger Dunkel.

Over the last few months we have replaced Guinness in the can with Murphy's which is a bigger can and cheaper! Although Bulmer's has been withdrawn from the market for a while at least, we continue to offer Magners, Olde English and Strongbow ciders.

Although there was a noticeable drop in tourists in January, there were plenty of them around in February - at least in Soi LK Metro. Whether this was due to there generally being more people around or because the soi is becoming busier as more people choose to relax here is anyone's guess at present.

Well aware of the pressure the exchange rate is putting on some wallets we continue to sell most of our beverages at 2006 prices! A 75 Baht Heineken in 2006 was £1 or thereabouts whereas now with Sterling's weakness, even though it has gone up several times to the publican here, the 75 Baht we now get translates into almost £1.50! However, enough of that talk .... flights have come down a bit!
