Reception for March 2008 St. Patrick's Day Golf Invitational Competitors

St. Patrick's Day, Monday, 17th March 2008, was the obvious date for the St. Patrick's Day Golf Invitational. The competition - Texas Scramble format - was held at Plutaluang Navy Course and was organised by Mr. Brendan Kelly and Mr Ciarán de Burca who wished all participants 'Céad Míle Failte'.

The competition was entry-fee free for all competitors although the prizes were quite exceptional notably a Waterford Crystal Clock for each member of the winning team. Additionally there were Four Commemorative 10-Euro coins; Four Papermate pens; Four bottles of Jamesons Whiskey; Numerous T-Shirts from the Ryder Cup; A bottle of Champagne; Additional Golfing T-Shirts and Golf Balls. In fact there were prizes available for everyone who participated in the 13- team event.

The reception for the Golf Invitational was sponsored and hosted by Metro Apartments. Guests were well 'watered and fed' as they say in Ireland with an extensive range of food which we arranged through Pat and Nuu at Juice in Soi Lengkee:
A Pig on a Spit; A Beef Stew; Potato Salad; Apple / Celery Salad; Coleslaw; Chicken Wings / Drumsticks; Mini Ribs; Sausage Rolls; Scotch Eggs; Green Chicken Curry; Beef in Oyster Sauce and A Spicy Fish Dish and of course Rice

Thankfully the participants not only tucked into the food with enormous enthusiasm, I can also report that they showed their appreciation by consuming a reasonable quantity of liquids as well.

In keeping with the wishes of the organisers, the golf, the reception and the aftermath amounted to one big enjoyable day of fun for all concernedIn the latter part of the evening, there was an impromptu singing session as befits all good Irish parties! We're already looking forward to the next party!!

Some of the prize winners. Please forgive the semi decapitation but the photographer was under undue stress as a result of "Probably the best beer in the World"!!!!!!
