Travel Concerns about Thailand?

It is understandable that people get concerned about their safety and about general disruption to their holiday plans given the current political noises about paralyzing Bangkok. While it is true that this is being threatened by protesters it is also true that they have said that the airports and public transport will not be affected.

I have had several inquiries already about road closures. Reading local reports and speaking to various Thai people it is not expected to pose any difficulties between the airport and Pattaya. Of course, depending on how things pan out the situation can change for the better or the worse. At present, however, regular visitors to Thailand and Pattaya are unconcerned, some having experienced political unrest and coups before. There are some press reports of decreasing tourist numbers but these seem to be package deals originating in China and Russia. Single, seasoned travelers are unimpressed and are continuing to book their holidays.

Over the coming weeks if there is a serious deterioration which could affect some one's plans I will post here.
