While up in Bangkok I missed Champagne's Anniversary Party which was well attended. Jason seems to have now got the place rocking regularly - well done!
The Drunken Duck has now changed hands and is headed up by Tony. Good Luck!
I am told that Club Blu is for sale.
On the note of businesses for sale, when I was in Bangkok I met up with a mate who sells businesses. He was telling me that business is terribly slow; there is no scarcity of places up for grabs but there are no people coming in to invest. Both his Bangkok and Pattaya offices are noticeably quiet.
Rich Bar should soon be moving to Soi Lengkee from Boukhao where it's been for years. Expensive rent is said to be a factor in the move.
Kebab King is now definitely closed.
Essex Arms, formerly Haven Bar, is up for sale again.
The Ice Bar, which years ago was Memories, has changed hands and will re-open as The Office A GoGo sometime in the future.
In the Metro we plod on as before. After a better-than-expected World Cup in June and July we are trying to maintain our sports coverage despite the Supersport problems. In addition to UBC we now also have Astro from Malaysia and Telkom from Indonesia. Occasionally we have been able to offer Supersport and when broadband doesn't let us down, we have been showing GAA football and hurling. Only over a week ago I enjoyed Down's deserved win over Kerry - again!
As they say in Ireland, Up Down!
