While Pattaya has not exactly been overrun with tourists this summer there have been more people around LK Metro. I think this is because more people now know about us and there are more customers checking out the new go-go bars. Just now the two units next door to Metro Apartments are being modified and a new go-go will open soon. At the beginning of November the double unit opposite us will also be turned into a go-go. At the top of the street, where Liquid Lounge was, there is now Sugar Sugar which is, I am told, a go-go. I think, although delayed, Kilkenny is still destined to become a go-go also.
The existing go-go / coyote establishments, Champagne, MASH, The Office, Submarine, Kiss and Club Blu continue to draw the attention of new-comers to the soi. Additionally we have Devil's Den and Lolitas. Add to this the array of other bars and guesthouses and it is easy to see why the street is growing in popularity with value-for-money accommodation, food and drinks.
A few weeks ago I had one of the steaks from the Golf Club, BBQ every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, and it was excellent. More and more people tell me that there is good food available in Stags Head just up the street from us. In addition to that there is still the hole-in-the-wall Thai restaurant just around the corner in Soi Boukhao - a favourite with many guests who like value-for-money Thai food.
In the Metro we continue to offer our rooms at the same rates as in 2009/2010 and will continue to hold these rates into 2012 for as long as we can. We still screen most sports, English and Scottish Premier Leagues, European Championship matches, rugby - from both Southern and Northern hemispheres, motor sports, golf, tennis, GAA, cricket and indeed pretty much anything which is available by satellite above us. Recently we have improved the shower facilities in all rooms and added a neat little cabinet for your toiletries. Some more modest improvements are planned very soon.
We are re-vamping our website and re-arranging photos taken over the last five plus years. Last but not least we have added Facebook to our range of keep-in-touch methods. There is the website, this blog and -although little used - Twitter.
In the more general area of Boukhao there is Oasis go-go and numerous good places to eat. In Soi Lengkee, the Jolly Friar and almost next door China Garden are popular venues for food. Over the coming months, where Xcite used to be, there will be a new IT centre with, no doubt, an abundance of Thai food offerings. All in all then Soi LK Metro continues to offer a good range of products at very reasonable prices. I hope to see more familiar faces soon!
