The Nation Newspaper

Over the last 25 years I have watched The Nation and Bangkok Post compete for the English-language media market in Thailand. Sometimes remarkably good to awful, the competition has always been entertaining in one way or another. Today, the Nation reports on the 'planking' craze. The headline below set me thinking whether the copy was written by an Irishman! In Ireland we are renowned for our command of English - or at least we had writers everyone else seems to think were good at the 'oul writing business!

"The Culture Watch Centre warned yesterday that posting nude planking pictures on the Internet was a legal offence."

Is there a difference between a 'legal offence' and an 'illegal offence'? Just a thought!!
