Between earlier political upheaval here and global economic misery tourist numbers are lower than a year ago. I haven't read any figures in local media - World Cup again - but just talking to other business owners in the area, it is obvious that numbers are down on a year ago not to mention two or three years ago.
There are signs, however, that things are slowly picking up. This is based on the increasing number of emails arriving compared to say two months ago. Hopefully flights will fill up sooner rather than later.
As we have been doing now for a few years - resident guests get 10% off their drinks at the bar. It may not be much but the gesture has been well received by all. In addition to the usual sport that we put on, we have now added Astro which carries several HD sports channels and have been showing some GAA matches when the 3BB connection allows!
